Re: my drunken purchase
So what does one bid on a truck like that when one is under the influence? If it's to much, just come on over to my shop we'll have a few then we can talk about an old scrap metal tower I have for sale in Paris. LOL

Re: my drunken purchase
I've been in the process of hot rodding a '53 for about the last 3 years. You can put a LOT of money into one very easily. Those era of trucks were trucks....they ride like trucks, run like trucks, etc.

Re: my drunken purchase
If you got it worth the money at your price it's all good. If you got into a beverage influenced bidding war it might not be so good.

Re: my drunken purchase
Haha, well I got it for an excellent price. What I had failed to do was look at exactly where it was located. It is on the west side of Arkansas by the Oklahoma border! I am in the process of trying to get this thing shipped because I don't want to drive 1,800 miles round trip.

Re: my drunken purchase
theres a web site called uship or something like that, you might be able to find someone that needs something hauled the direction your going, and you might even make money on the trip if you can get more than one thing to deliver.

Re: my drunken purchase
I tried U-ship but ended up going the traditional broker route. That's a very weird industry to say the least. Very competitive which is good and bad. Good because the price is driven down, bad because every yahoo with a truck is out there running around.

Re: my drunken purchase
yeah I had a guy come down from Kansas and buy some parts from me, he was already loaded down with stuff going to texas, said by the time he gets back to Kansas he will make about $100 profit after paying for everything to come down and get my parts.

Re: my drunken purchase
A guy just shipped me a '55 Lincoln to restore. Had an absolute cow because it took the guy 2 1/2 weeks to get it from Santa Cruz, CA to N Central Arkansas. When the driver got here he had a strong Ukrainian accent. I'm just glad the car made it here at all.

Re: my drunken purchase
Hey, the up side was it didn't have any more damage on it when it got here than when it left Cali.
Hey, it's in Arkansas? I've got a trailer...and an opening in the shop... I could fix that so you could fly down and drive it home...just sayin'.

Re: my drunken purchase
I used the u ship service and it went fine. The truck that delivered it was a bit shaky. Indy to Boston.

Re: my drunken purchase
old crow: That is an idea! I don't know if I could handle the drive in that thing. The truck is in Fort Smith, AR. I may end up driving my truck down and renting a trailer.
So the trucker was supposed to be there Thursday afternoon, then something came up. Then Friday morning but got a flat. Then Friday evening arounf 6-7pm so I have the previous owner push the truck out into his parking lot. The previous owner sends me an email at 10pm saying the truck is still there!!! The trucker never called me or anything. So here I am Saturday morning at 7am already pissed off ready to get in my 1990 dodge diesel and start driving. |

Re: my drunken purchase
Only adds about 50-60 miles to the trip to bring it by my shop, according to Yahoo maps.
This said, assuming you aren't really on the road at 5am on Sunday morning.

Re: my drunken purchase
No, not on the road yet. Supposedly it was picked up yesterday though I have my doubts. I don't even care at this point, I'll deal with it Monday. Don't use Queens City transporters for trucking. I was supposed to get the damn truck yesterday and I don't even know where it, on the road? In Arkansas? Stolen? who knows.

Re: my drunken purchase
I used http://www.paragontransportllc.com/ twice with no problem. I just had a truck shipped from CA to MD last month it took 6 days.

Re: my drunken purchase
duallyjams: Truck running or not? what does that cost if you don't mind me asking? I passed on a truck in California because it was so damn far, figured shipping would be out of this world.
