SPID error?

I was cruising eBay looking at trucks, and found a weird misprint on a SPID.

Anyone ever seen this??

M49 : Turbo Hydra-Matic is misspelled

It says : Turbo Hydra-Matuc

Re: SPID error?

"U" and "I" are next to each other on a typewriter so I am not at all surprised.

Re: SPID error?

Blue, I've got a couple of SPIDs from 1971 Baltimore with Hydra-Matuc on the spid. Looks like it got changed by the 10,000th truck or so. Is your truck a early 1971 from Baltimore?

Re: SPID error?

Found it on EBay. It's a 1970 from Freemont. I have one other SPID from Freemont in 1970 with Hydra-Matuc on the SPID.

Re: SPID error?

Cool deal. Yeah I tried to post the eBay link, but was having trouble since I'm using my phone. So interesting learning all the quirks of these trucks!!!

Re: SPID error?

It happens occasionally.

For the '64 Pontiacs the largest engine cooling fan was denoted as "Heavey Duty".

I would also like to add that the SPIDs are not typed up individually on a typewriter. The information is loaded into a database at the beginning of the year and then "broadcast" to a remote printer, where each individual SPID is created.

That's why one mistake will be seen across multiple vehicles.
