blinkers--directional signals

okay, 66 burb stock 4 speed column. signals worked fine but did not turn off when steering wheel was turned. bought new switch, now blinkers are flashing really fast? WTF.

First thing I would check is the ground. Bad grounds cause more issues than you'd think.
