1950 Truck
I recently bought a 1950 Chevy truck 3100 series. I'm trying to buy bucket seats for but will consider a bench seat. Does anyone know if you need to cut out where the gas tank originally went in order to put seats in where you will have more leg room? I bought some bucket seats but they don't allow any leg room.

Re: 1950 Truck
Removing the gas tank doesn't add any leg room. Do not remove the cross piece in front of the tank. That adds strength so the cab doesn't flex.
When I changed my seat, I found a set of mustang buckets which fit well enough to give me about 1.5" of additional leg room because the seat backs are thinner than the truck seat. I wound up using a 3rd row bench from an astro van because the headrests were removable and didn't stick up above the bottom of the window. If you do a search on here for seats there's lots of good info |
