Hub Cap Question

I looked around but couldn't really find an answer to my question. I picked up a set of 73 75 3/4 ton dog dish hub caps for my 72. I was wondering if these installed with clips or not.

Re: Hub Cap Question

they aren't installed with clips, just pop em over the nubs. They won't fit wheels that require clips, must be the nub type. They will fit the 16"and 16.5" stock steelies with nubs and no clips (i.e. what came on most 67-72 C/K20/30 trucks), Note they do NOT fit C/K10 steelies, only 3/4 ton and above.

Re: Hub Cap Question

Thank you! Thats what I needed to know. Looks like my wheels are some later model 16s without nubs so I'll have to source some earlier wheels. guess that'll give me time to refinish these hubcaps.

Re: Hub Cap Question

As for C/K20/30 wheels, anything thru 1987 should have the nubs. My preference for the 67-72 20/30's is to hunt for mid-70's thru 87 16"steelies. They have nubs and 16" tires are available with a bit more selection than 16.5"wheels. 67-72 had both 16.5 (std) and 16"steelies - the 16.5s are more common though. They made their way all the way into the mid-70's, but 16" became the standard.

Re: Hub Cap Question

I learned that I have 73+ caps on my 70. I also learned that almost no one has the 70-72 caps. Incredibly hard to find, so trucks wind up with 73+ units, which are similar and easier to find. And no not need clips, at least one my 70 wheels.

Re: Hub Cap Question

I'll have to start the search jocko thanks again. Davepl, its def hard to find the earlier blue bow tie caps and they aren't cheap when you do find them. Thats why I decided to go with the later ones and just redo them to look like the earlier ones.
