no limit r&p - sectioned crossmember
Was thinking about sectioning a cross member 1" and running a no limit rack and pinion on a 72 w/bags. Has anyone done this ? Any pit falls any problems at all ? Sent no limit two emails w/no response yet. Will call their tech line next week.

Re: no limit r&p - sectioned crossmember
Not sure if this helps but I emailed them last week with a similar question. It took a few days to get back to me.
My question was if I purchased their R&P kit now to run on my stock crossmember could I re-use for if/when I install a PB Dropmember or their wide ride setup. The response was no it will not work. Again not sure if this helps.

Re: no limit r&p - sectioned crossmember
I don't have one but I have been reading a ton of threads on it, I seem to recall there being and issue with running it on a sectioned cross member. Since their bracket is designed to sit on the lower lip of the cross member, sectioning would raise this mounting point. I believe there was also a problem with being able to get to the mounting bolt after sectioning.
You may also have an issue with steering shaft angles and clearance of the frame for tie rods. Do a search for No Limit rack & pinion and you may run across the threads. I'm just trying to go by memory of what I read when doing my own research. Last edited by Blown06; 10-26-2014 at 10:42 AM. Reason: Auto correct fails |

Re: no limit r&p - sectioned crossmember
Quote:
When removing material from side to side, the motor mount towers cans be re-used & the space between the oil pan/x-member remains unchanged. When removing material from just under the rails, the MM towers have to be modified & the space between the pan/x-member gets tighter. No Limits R&P kit works w/the 'removing material under the frame rail' method as it doesn't alter the portion of the x-member where the R&P mounts. Removing the material side to side reduces the height & would be the problem w/the R&P installation. Check w/Aggie91 on his son's truck build. It had a sectioned x-member w/No Limits R&P.
