Who Likes odd trucks? 70 AV Gas Truck
Well I bought this truck today but cant pick it up until next week. It was an Aviation Gas delivery truck from a local airport until last year. Has a 250 4 speed and PTO powering it and everything works according to the owner.
It has an awesome rust free frontend on it. Its inners front fenders and core support are perfect from what I could see. Its never been driven on the road and has an HO52 rear end and 16.5X8.25 rims all the way around. I looked it over and there are a bunch of period correct things the company that built it did to make it work. Ill have more pics after I bring it home. Just thought Id share a few pics.

Kinda neat. Are you keeping it as a fuel truck? If not, what is that wheel base, looks pretty short?

Re: Who Likes odd trucks? 70 AV Gas Truck
Even funnier note is that I work with a few million gallons of Jet fuel every day. I pumped AV gas to helicopters and drones downrange all over the world for the last 24 years... I get out and now I bought my own fuel truck! LOL Irony huh?

Re: Who Likes odd trucks? 70 AV Gas Truck
Is that a C30?
If so it's a "chassis and cowl" truck and only 138 were built for 1970. Doesn't really make it worth $, but that sure is cool. http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=104816

That is awesome. It would really find a use here in my farming area. The farmers could haul diesel in it to their equipment in the fields. Great find

Re: Who Likes odd trucks? 70 AV Gas Truck
Thanks for all the comments. I do have a catch with this truck. It was ordered as a piece of equipment and no title was issued to the airport, that I know of. I'm going to take the BOS to the DMV and see what they say about it. The people in my new county are The Best at helping out. I moved to the new house and the nice people in Wellington ALWAYS make sure I'm covered.
I'll keep everyone informed of the outcome. I'm stoked to get it home so wish me luck? I didn't realize the production was low on these so I need to regroup before I go hitting it with the impact gun.

Re: Who Likes odd trucks? 70 AV Gas Truck
If anyone has a pic of other odd ball trucks such as this please post a pic for me.
It will be hard to justify keeping it as is... Especially to the better half. I need something to push me over the edge... Give me an idea for motivation please.

Re: Who Likes odd trucks? 70 AV Gas Truck
It looks a little different compared to yours (I think). I wonder if they customized them, or if it's a different year/model of tanker.

Re: Who Likes odd trucks? 70 AV Gas Truck
They were sold as a cowl and chassis. You literally only got the frame/drivetrain, front clip, cowl, steering wheel and pedals. You had to create the rest. They were likely built by a conversion company as a special order.

That would be a neat thing to see at a car show after it was all restored.

Re: Who Likes odd trucks? 70 AV Gas Truck
Mike, that is cool. Would be a shame to part if you cant find a buyer for it complete. I would think it would be worth more than the front clip value and scrap value for the rest? Shoot me a PM b4 you part, if it comes to that maybe I can save it.

Re: Who Likes odd trucks? 70 AV Gas Truck
Vintage windmills,
As of now I have buyers for the front end, a buyer for the running driving chassis, and a farmer is interested in the tank for diesel. I would like to give you an oppertunity to buy it whole but understand its gonna be hard to get this much out of a complete truck. I'm sending you a pm.
