socket for yoke's on a 221 t/c

is there a special socket for the nuts that holds the yoke's on a 221 t/f case? the one i have is too thick and doesn't fit in all the way.

It should fit. You need to get up against the inside edge of the yoke with a small chisel and tap the crud off the side. The good old crud gets to be real hard like the metal and it needs to be scraped hard. You should be able to get enough space to tap the socket on there. Got a good impact, they can be stubborn!

+1 on the above. When I did mine I used a regular socket. 1&5/16 I believe. Just had to clean up the yoke first. Broke free with a harbor freight electric impact wrench.

I had the same problem one time. I took my new yoke and socket to a machinist, and had him remove enough material from the yoke so my socket would fit. Some sockets are thicker than others. As mentioned above, make sure it's not just crud build up.
