1966 c-10 engine pit ,

just getting ready to start working on our father son project , 1966 C-10 , we have purchased a 2013 5.3 , and 6 speed auto setup , we are discussing engine bay colour ? originally it is mostly black , the truck is the orange with white top ,still has the original paint , so my thinking to kinda make it a little more modern under the hood , I was thinking painting the inners and cradle body colour ? like the fire wall ? any one have pics of any done this way ? body colour pit ?

I don't have any pictures for an example, but I have seen it done before. It can really give it a nice clean look to have those bits body color.

You really don't see it all that often on these trucks it seems. If you look up pictures of 67-72's then you will see it much more often. It would at least give you a general idea of how clean it can make it look in there.

Butch, just a bit of info on the 6speed auto. You might want to do the fitting of the trans before you get to far into the paint stuff. I THINK the six speed requires a bit of cutting to fit.

Re: 1966 c-10 engine pit ,

I am surprised at how small the 6 speed auto is ? 6l80 that is , I will for sure fit it before any painting , I always mock up first , but thanks for the tip !

My bay is silver and the rails are black as is the firewall. It looked odd being silver at least to me anyway.

Re: 1966 c-10 engine pit ,

If you plan on driving it much I would paint the frame black. I had mine orange like the body for awhile and it was never easy to keep clean.
