60-66 lift springs

im having a hard time finding a lift kit for a k10 suburban and was wondering if a lift kit for a 73-87 will fit. Thanks

There are no lift springs specifically for a 60-66. Leafs from a 70-72 k10 are the same length, and are available in popular lifts. The difference will be the eye size and the bushing types. 66 uses all bronze bushing, and a threaded bolts on the front spring shackle. 72 uses standard rubber or poly bushings.
I converted to the newer type when I built mine.

When you go with either '70-'72 or '73-'87 lift springs, you will also have to change the spring hangers to accommodate the springs.

That's what I did on my 61. Worked just fine.

So does the 67-72 or 73-87 give the same amount of lift or do you need a 6 inch to gain 4 on a 60-66?

What I do know is a 4" Rancho will lift a K5 6"!

so what specifically is different? I've managed to find lift springs from Tuff Country and Procomp that are 52" long and 2.5" wide, which is the specs of whats on my 64 K10 4x4's rear...

why won't they fit?

The 60-66 4x4 uses a greaseable pin and bushing to mount the springs, the newer trucks use bolts to hold them in.
I don't believe the holes in the springs are the right size. That's why I used the springs hangers off of a square body 4x4 for the rear and my machinist buddy modified the original front hangers to accept the standard bolts to mount the front springs in my truck.

why manufacturers wouldn't just build a bushing to fit our trucks rather than not sell their product at all, baffles me...

or simply sell an undrilled bushing and let the user drill out the size needed...

Actually the later model spring bolts are smaller and non greaseable.

I called one of the lift companies in 2006 and they told me not enough interest for the older stuff.

62 short I saw your thread about the rear and front springs. Just wondering what you did as far as the front spring bushing. Square body bushings are around 3.5 inches and the 60 66 hangers are 2.5 inches.did you use a poly bushing and trim the sides down? Also what did you do to convert the front spring shackles and rear hangers? Thanks.

I feel like this should be a no brainer and make sense but it doesn't.

The spring bushing on those spring from summit are 3 inches wide with a 5/8 bolt hole.the spring hanger bolt when tight will clamp the hanger to the rubber or poly sleeve bushing. On the stock set up it uses a center pin with bronze bushing that floats between the hanger. The eyes of the stock springs are smaller so the 1.5 inch bushings from the aftermarket or stock 67 and newer springs cannot be used.

geez... those two links from summit are supposed to be 2.5" wide springs...

I submitted a product question asking what the width of the spring perch area would be...

basically our stock mount, because of it's cast metal and center pin design, cannot be modified to accept a bolt on spring?

Check out the spring swap build in my sig. Info on the hangers is in it. Not too much AM support for grease pin springs anymore.
