what would you do?

I'm at a cross roads. I picked up a complete front suspension from a 77 half ton to convert my 68 to 5 lug discs. I have the cross member, brakes, and mc. I bought it so long ago I don't remember how much I paid. Before I install I would like to refresh all the bushings, ball joints, tie tods etc.

The question is...

Would you sell this front end and just buy a disc brake conversion kit brand new from a vendor?

Here are my thoughts. I want to bag the truck also.

Keep it
I'll have to buy a rebuild kit for it. -$300
Drop spindles- 275
Brake lines - no idea
My labor and time rebuilding it - not including install
So for about 700 I'll have a freshly rebuilt setup ready to install

Sell it
If I sell it I can buy a drop spindle conversion kit for around 8-900$ ready to install without me spending all my time rebuilding everything. Plus everything is new.

Is my math right on this? What would you do?

Re: what would you do?

Consider the fact the newer cross member may not need a complete overhaul or very little replacement. I would think that would be the cheaper route. Cleaning power washing before install will be much easier too.

I would only swap a later disc brake assembly if I was going with stock height. As soon as you add in dropped spindles, to me, that dictates buy the new stuff

Re: what would you do?

Thanks for the responses so far. The truck will be bagged but I don't have enough to do it all at once so thus doing the the brakes first. If I were to sell the complete 77 front end what should I list it for on CL?

Re: what would you do?

Seen the prices in my area $175-$300. Really depends on demand.
