Removing trailing arms
How hard is it to remove the trailing arms. Need to cut holes for exhaust and it would be alot easier to do if the trailing arms were off. Probably be a good time to replace the bushings.

If you are interested in replacing the bushings, I have a set, bought them from Chevy duty, the inner sleeve that goes around the bolt and the outer bushing. To see a pic just go to chevyduty.com. They are already boxed to ship, someone else was wanting them but I haven't heard from him in a month or so. They are brand new, I only removed them to take a look at them. Comes with a grease pack and full instructions.
if your interested PM me, and I'll notify the other guy that he took a bit to long to respond. $15 to your door...they run about $17 plus shipping from Chevyduty, let me know. From what I under stand the easiest part about removing the trailing arms is getting under the truck to realize that it is gonna be a lot of hard work...LOL...Just kidding, the rear u bolts are an easy unbolt, don't know about the bushings, though in the instructions it advises using a torch to burn of the old bushings.. -Roger

to break the bolts loose will be the worst. You'll a big breaker bar, since I don't think theres enough room for an impact in that spot. I'd say your also planning on leaving them attached to the rear end, cuz they are a pain in the a$$ to separate.

![]() What about using a hydraulic press to push them in and out??? After you torch the bushings, I guess the rubber will be gone and the center sleeve will just come out freely. Then you clean them out, and press the new ones in???? Anyone pressed them in using like a c-clamp? Thanks!

I was wondering about that. Think maybe I will leave them attached to the rear end. Will they drop down enough to move out of the wayor will I have to loosen them up in the back

I had to replace a rusted trailing arm. It was ease to take off. I did have an impact wrench. Since I took on off I took the other one off also to change the bushings. Burned them with a torch. Burn the hell out of the bushing and the wack them out with a hammer. I had sucess and the greased the new bushings and sleaves and the popped in rather easily. Heck i thought it would have been harder.
