Thumbs up Seats and console

Bought the seats a month ago at the local LQ yard for $60.00. Got the electronics working on both of them except for the drivers side heater. I have ordered new covers for them both and plan on putting aftermarket heaters in them so I will have both bottom and backs heated instead of just bottoms.

I bought the console off a local member here and will have it refurbed to new again I hope and will install them all into the 71 when done.

After talking to tech support at Air Lift I have found out that the kit I need is 60811. Per the measurements I gave them. Ride height of truck inside spring and inside diameter of springs.

Here is the bad of it. The console I hope can be fixed with some minor work. These are the only problems I can find wrong with it. I'll replace the cup holders with the stainless ones if I can find them with new trim also I hope.
The inside frame is cracked up front and there is a small hole on the side right at the trim. Shouldn't take much to fix I hope.

Re: Seats and console

Cant wait to see this Andy....I too like the older console with newer seats......I might install mine with 2000 trans am seats without the headrest.......the main thing wrong with my truck this year's Power Tour was the bench seat became uncomfortable and no cup holder.....plus a console would me clean up the cab quickly with a place to tuck stuff away..........

Wink Re: Seats and console

Here is what I'm looking for. Just to give a idea. Once I have the heaters and new covers installed I will start placing everything in the truck.
Going to work on the speaker boxes also and how everything is mounted.

Yes I can/could and might do that if I dont get around to interior redo before 2015 Power Tour(where ever we may be going).....but that option may not make my lower back and butt happy while long hauling in 2015

Talking Re: Seats and console

Drivers side is installed and wired. Seats move as they should and heaters are working. Got to drive it the rest of the week and see how everything feels and wait for my next night off which is Sunday before I start on the passenger side. I'll have to drill holes for it. The drivers side went good the brackets mounted right back in the same holes as the old seat. Seat belts everything was a easy swap.
I had plan to have the heaters turn off with the seat belt if you unbuckled it and left the switch on but the little wire pig tails in the buckle work in reverse for a buzzer I guess. They will cut off when I turn the truck off but would like to have a safety cutoff if someone forgets. Anybody know a way to do this?

Re: Seats and console

Those will look sweet! What did those seats come out of? I have some bucket seats but I'm old and want an arm rest.

Also ( off subject) but what kind of tilt column do you have? The ones I've seen don't ever look like they tilt "up" as high as yours.

Thanks,
Seats are out of a 99 Tahoe. I bought the new covers and new heaters for them. My old buns will be warm this winter! The tilt is a factory 4 speed tilt I found in a old burned out blazer many years ago. I gave the guy $45.00 for it. Took home cleaned it up and replaced the bearings and haven't had any problems with it since.

Cool Re: Seats and console

Seats are both in wired and ready to ride. I worked all night on them. I have the seat belts working like I want and they cut the heaters off if the switch is left on and you unbuckle the belt.

This way I don't have to worry about weather are not it's burning the heater element up for no reason!

Oh yea I went back out and fixed the seat cover around the controller on the passenger side. It looks a lot better.

I have the console sitting on the kitchen table drying after I epoxed the crack back together. I will body fill and sand the other places sometime polish up the S/S trim piece and buy the cup holders.
Mount my 2 amps inside the thing once it's ready to install.

The console was pretty bad man. I think it will be OK but it may take awhile. I have to do some body filling on it and sanding it.

Thanks guy's I think they came out great for the price compared to new covers with heaters.

Here is the link.

http://www.autoanything.com/seat-cov...A4353A0A0.aspx

I have all the wiring ran through the seat wiring harness plug. Everything is unplug with one connector and the seat is ready to come out.
