Rear Wheel/Tyre size question
Hi all,
I did some searching on here, and I couldn't really find too much info. My 72 c10 has (i think), a 5/7 drop, with another 3" still available in the rear with the frame C notch it has. Here are a couple of reference pics: All the fender wells in the rear are stock. My question, is, can I fit a 15x12 in the rear without too many mods, or is 15x10 the widest I can go on the stock frame? I dont mind cutting the rear fender tubs. Im going to make it a 'pro street' style truck, with fat wide rear rubber, running bags super low, with tyre tucked up into the bed. Any ideas / thoughts / suggestions / criticisms welcomed. Re: Rear Wheel/Tyre size question
I am running the typical 15x8 rally wheels on the wider 12 bolt housing under my 68 with a 275/60/15 BFG. I think these are 3.5in back spacing.
I am on bags with a small c-notch with no rubbing at all right now even when aired out. I could put a little more tire to the outside, and a little more to the inside before touching the fenderwell. But there is probably close to six inches of clearance from the tire to the frame. So, with an appropriate amount fenderwell trimming and the backspacing to match it, it looks like a 12" wheel would fit under mine just fine. Good luck |

Re: Rear Wheel/Tyre size question
Thanks for the reply mate, I appreciate it.
It makes sense. I will obviously get around to making all the necessary measurements, but I just wanted to get some information from someone who has some real world perspective. Thanks again. Ryan |

Re: Rear Wheel/Tyre size question
a 315 on only a 10" wheel? Usually that is good for a 275 and a 315 would go on a 12" wheel
