I was making some pieces for my conversion van so while I had my tools out I made a radio delete plate for the truck. I was tired of looking at wires and an ugly cut hole.

Starting to cut up a 98 cab and chassis truck for the engine(for Chevelle) and the 4l80e(for C20). That meant 30 gallons of free gas.

Got the new transmission installed and alternator wiring done right now trying to figure out another problem. It will be on the road again Tuesday or Wednesday depending on how work goes. So close.

Installed a new starter, dimmer switch and did a coolant flush on the 82. Took.off the nasty generic seat cover and vacuumed the 10 years of dirt and sand out of the carpet.

Re: Whar did you get done fall back edition 11/2/14
Discovered the10 bolt front axle some knucklehead swapped into the K30 I bought a few months ago is junk. They swapped in a used carrier and ring gear and reused the old pinion. They also didnt properly shim the carrier and it had about .05" side to side play in it which allowed the carrier bearing race on one side to spin in the bearing cap and score up the machined surfaces.
The only potentially good news is that i managed to find a pair of used axles out of a K20 for only $100. Hopefully the front axle is rebuildable, the rear isnt of much use since its a semi float 14 bolt. I would have loved to have found a Dana 60 to put back under it but cant really justify the cost considering I never plan on putting anything bigger than a 33" tire under it and it will likely never see any serious offroading. Most people seem to want $8-1200 for a D60 that would probably still need gone through. I should have a little less than that in the 10 bolt after replacing everything on it. |

Found out I was running on 7 cylinders and that a blind man put the distributor in. Picked up the parts to do a complete tune up tonight and drop the distributor in in the right spot.
