What was this option/accessory?

It's driving me nuts trying to figure out what this might have been for. After plenty of searching I have found zero information on what this thing next to the transfer case shifter might have been for. One guy suggested it may have been a trailer brake controller but it doesn't fit the description. The numbers that can be seen on the parts are no help at all. Any ideas?

Re: What was this option/accessory?

I wonder if its one of those big cell phone mounts from the late 80's early 90's.

Re: What was this option/accessory?

I thought that might be a possibility and did a search and came up with nothing that looks like this. When you press the long button on the left side the small thing on the front retracts... ???

Re: What was this option/accessory?

My vote is old cell phone mount as well. They used to have bag phones where you would take them out of the bag and mount the various parts. The handset was on a coiled cord and all functions where on the back of the handset....the mount for the handset looked similar....and there were a lot of brands/models.

I don't recognize it as a factory part.
