how much drop before a cnotch?
How far can I drop my rear end before I need a cnotch? I want to drop 5" but do not want to notch it.

Re: how much drop before a cnotch?
kinda depends on your tire size, leaf or coil and fleet or step.
rule of thumb is 4-5".

Re: how much drop before a cnotch?
Forgive me if this is a stupid question but why does it matter if it's a fleet or step? Can one be lowered more than the other? Just curious because I have a step with coils.

Re: how much drop before a cnotch?
5" rear empty no problem but I use as a truck had to add c-notch, axle was hitting the frame.

Re: how much drop before a cnotch?
Go bags and you can adjust. My 62 went at least 5" without issues. Put the springs in look for issues then decide.

Re: how much drop before a cnotch?
It doesnt really, was just asking for a mental picture along with what tire size you are running.

Re: how much drop before a cnotch?
I have a 66" stepside on cpp 4" drop springs and 2" lowering blocks with no c-notch. Does not bottom out. Fuel cell is located in the rear. I never have any load in it, but I'm pretty sure if I were to put load in it, rearend will bump the bump stop.

Re: how much drop before a cnotch?
I just did 5" rear drop (Coil springs) and dont see that Ill need a C. Though I plan to USE... my truck, so I may find a heavier load may warrant a c-notch eventually.
I dont happen to have a picture of the room between the bump stops and axle now, but it was a good 3-4" still. I figured with no heavy load and not hauling stuff in the back on a daily basis that it will be enough for the occasional pothole travel needed. |
