Do any of you have SBC Yahoo DSL?

I have had SBC Yahoo DSL for a while. but couldn't get it activated. I had a bad phone jack that was making everyone crazy.

Anyway, I am using it now, and trying out the SBC yahoo browser. Besdies all the clutter that I hate, it looks pretty good. I have noticed one thing I need help with.

If you are on a site and right click a pic, it doesn't offer the option of "properties". How do you get it to show you the properties of a pic?????

Don't use thier browser. I use Internet Explorer and have no probs. I just have to figure out how to take thier browser off the default when you click on another link.

I have Yahoo SBC and love it. As for taking their little stupid browser off..I just deleted the damn thing. Went to IE => TOOLS => INTERNET OPTIONS. What you need is in there. There's a setting on there for making IE your default browser. If that still doesn't work, just delete their stupid browser.
Other than that stupid thing, I love SBC, it's 10x faster than AOL High Speed!!

Yeah, I got 6.0. I have always used MIE as my browser, so I am familair with it. Since the SBCyahoo browser was there, I thought I would give it a try. It doesn't do much for me

I guess I'm just a simple person that doesn't like all the fluff and clutter. I can't stand a browser that flashes messages at me. I even have my default on MIE set at blank....

AMEN to that! Plus, with it loaded on "about:blank" IE seems to load twice as fast.

With my new DSL and a fairly new computer, load speed isn't a concern like it was with my old 233mhz and a 56k modem, thank God.

I just don't like all the crap that comes with the new browsers....

MIE 6.0

I went back to using the Microsoft connection manager too. The SBC manager took forever to hook up.

Yeah, racedvl it seems pretty cool so far. Everything load much faster until your cache gets overstuffed. Then it start slowing down again....

Mike, it's the phone company at it's finest. It was Southwestern Bell Corp. They are too cool for all that now, so they became SBC.

I think they part of Yahoo, so they merged to make SBC/Yahoo and offer the cheapest DSL service I could find. It's 29.95 a month for the first year. That's cheaper than my 10.00 dial up since I also had a seperate line installed just for dial up...

Go to DSLreports.com on the left, click on tools, then speed test and se where you are, then click on tweak test and follow what it says to do. One thing to keep in mind is alot of DSL modems keep internal error logs which will eventually slow you down. I recommend about every 2 weeks, unplug the power from your modem for like 20 secs then plug it back in. The speed will usualy go back up. If you need any other help with it, just shoot me an email txstruck@aol.com

I have sbc, got it when it was still pac bell dsl.

When I moved from Oakland to Hayward I had to get a newer router and the whole new installation pack.

I hate it. Talk about an invasion of privacy.

I am paying for dsl access and they forced me to provide not only basic information, but I had to do an entire in depth marketing survey. Pissed me off, I am paying for their service, not being paid to answer questions.

Then there is ALL this stuff they force you to install. I spent near three hours doing a microscopic search on my hard drive to purge it of any trace of these added features.
Couple that with their ****ty browser and spy ware.

Best thing one can do. Start/find and do a search for SBC and Yahoo and hit delete.

I didn't think any one could make Internet explorer worse then is already is, but I was wrong. They did.

But seriously when I get home I will find the names of the files you need to keep.

If you have a router installed, you dont need ANY of their software. Set the router up using PPPoe and put your login and password in the router then use regular IE. The router il login for you so you dont have to anymore. Ive done it so I know it works.

after i did the install i ran ad aware and what do you know - they planted all kinds of sh*t.

if you don't have ad aware get it... it's free and it works.

Y'all don't have any concerns with it deleting anything important? I hate a cluttered computer. Since mine is pretty new, it doesn't have to much crap on it...yet. I'm sure it's only a matter of time before it sneaks in though.

I make it a point to "un-click" all the little boxes they try to slide in when you load something new that allows the to bombard you with spam, and sell your info off.

I watch for it as close as I can, but I knew I still miss out. Let me know what y'all think. I don't want to get carried away and chunk out files that pertain to my OS
