Fixing to pick up a 1973 Gmc 2500 truck

Stop and made a deal to purchase a 1973 GMC 2500 that's been a one family truck. The truck is a original 350/granny low truck. My dad has been looking for an older truck to be able to hall stuff around with and not worry about scratching up. I knew where an old GMC lwb had been sitting (although moved around the yard) and went ahead and stopped and asked about it and made an offer which was accepted.

The cab is almost perfect on the truck. The front fenders have a little rust on the bottom of the front fenders (as to be expected). The bed does have some rust through on the external panels and a lot of surface rust inside the bed. The hood is bent in the usual spot for this year model.

The truck was parked because of gas mileage in the late 90s and the 350 in it is a low mileage remanufactured unit from the early 90s. Been used as a farm truck its entire life. Has a drain that kills the battery fairly quickly when parked.

I figured this would make a great farm truck for my dad however and the price was right.

Congrats! Post some pictures. When I buy another square, it will be a 73/74 GMC K2500. It's my favorite of all of them!

I keep telling myself the next one will be something non-truck (Like this little 65 comet I know of that's been setting for years) and I keep ending up with more trucks. At least I finally got the misses to decide on a color for her 84 so that I can start work on my 69 for myself.

Re: Fixing to pick up a 1973 Gmc 2500 truck

Grats on the buy! im hoping I can pick up my 73 gmc 2500 this weekend once I switch the rear hub that needs replacing and the minor things I had to replace to make it road worthy(sat undriven since 1988), replace fenders/cheapo paint/new rubber/paint the white rims, so its all 1 color for now,etc... got it from a family member so I been workin on it while its there, heres the only decent pic I have of it while I was ripping things off of it, im stoked to bring it home!
