Front upper control arm alignment???

I got my front clip all cleaned up (sort of) and found many many shims behind the upper control arms. Is this normal? Equal amount on either side (only on the uppers) Looks like fender alignment shims to me but.. also the frame looks straight but this has me worried.

Shims behind the upper arm are normal, for front end alignment purposes. Yours doesn't look like it has anymore than what I have seen before.
