built a blade style rear anti roll bar for my 69 c10 wanted to post some pictures to show what it looked like

Thankyou, I built it cause I didn't want to spend the 500$ on the hotchkis one they make, and yes it is a whole new truck with it suspension is much tighter and handles on rails.

Thanks! If anybody wants any measurements or specs on it just let me know I only have about 40$ in it in heim joints. I got all the other metal from work lol

Is your center bar spring steel or just normal steel?

I actually made it out of 1 inch solid 316 stainless bar stock, probably not the best material but I had it laying around at work and figured I would use it at first to see if it works and if not then I'll have a good template to make one out of the correct steel.

How did you calculate the diameter needed on the center bar in relation to the weight of the truck?

Would love to see a drawing with dimensions!

hello to all. 69restomod, count me in also. will you post the specs on this thread. im sure we can use this modification. does this eliminate the use for a panhard bard?

Hey guys I'm glad everybody likes it! Thanks for the good feedback! I will climb under there tonight when I get home and get some measurements and specs. And you will still need a panhard bar to center the rearend under the truck, this just eliminates body roll on the backend of the truck. here's a pic my girlfriend snapped when I was working on it lol

Thanks for all the comments and glad everybody likes it I've built a few other things for the truck I'll prolly post up now!!Hey willie I did not do any math to figure out what diameter compared to weight I just figured that 1inch solid 316 bar stock would be stout enough to handle the load!!(any suspension gurus feel free to chime in on what the best material would be) So we will see seems to do great driving it around on some twisties last few days! For the links I used 7/8 tubing with 1/8 wall and 1/2 inch heim joints with 1/2 bolts I get all my hardware from a circle track race shop locally and 1/2 inch Heims is what they recomennded for the sway bar, if you would like full dimensions pm me and I'd be happy to send them to you.

Where did you get the sealed bearings for the ends? Looks like there is a zerk on them?

Swaybars are made from spring steel. They are designed to flex or rotate (depending on the design). Basically your design is a torsion bar design. Using anything else you are going to have a failure. Normal bar stock is not designed to twist.

If you buy stuff at a sprint car shop, talk to them about a torsion bar design swaybar and they should be able to hook you up with all the correct parts.

I actually got the sealed bearings from work we had them left over from a job I can try and look up a part number, I machined the 1inch bar down and it goes into the sealed bearing and has two lock screws that I pinged to hold it in place , and yes they are zerk fittings so you can grease them.

Never the less. If you have to call that a prototype then great job. I would like the part numbers if you don't mind. I am not sure how much a rod of spring steel might cost but shouldn't be too much.

Exactly my thoughts kmc3420! I figured the worst that could happen I have a really nice prototype and I'll just get the correct material and remake it, I drove the truck last night for a cruise and got on it a good bit and it seemed to hook up better to! I checked everything after the cruise and everything was still tight and looked good to go!

Sounds like it worked as it should. I feel confident making things like this for my truck, compared to modifying a spindle or things of that nature. Did your truck ride any rougher?

Yea I'm definitely happy with it! The ride quality is exactly the same it didn't change at all which I'm really happy about.
