1960-62 C-30,40,50,60 truck cabs

Well guys im feeling pretty down these last 3 weeks My 60 stepper (9 yr build) was involved in an accident - 17yr old kid t-boned my truck on the driverside (his negligence)...Well long story short I have a feeling the insurance will total my truck.. I have to much parts and money tied into this truck so my question is are all 60-62 cabs the same for C-30,40,50,60? Do they bolt right up to my C-10 frame? Any help is deeply appreciated. Thanx fellas..

the major part is that you have to install what ever hump that you need as the floor is flat in the higher nbr'd cabs. 30 series is the same as what you have.

Who did he have for insurance? Also do you have receipts of the parts on the truck, because you may be able to get a lot more for it if you kept the paperwork.

Thanx for the reply, I have the high hump, so I need to physically see the C-60 farm truck I saw in the paper..

My insurance company and the other are not working with me and the wife because we are being represented by a injury attorney.. I did send an email with reciepts totalling over $13,000.00 and also the NADA value report to the other (liable) insurance co. Just waiting for a responce..

I understand, I did the same with my '67. I hope everything works out well for you.

Re: 1960-62 C-30,40,50,60 truck cabs

yes with what is left of your truck. you will be able to make the c 60 cab work. the major difference as padresag stated is the high hump, the c 60 has a flat pan, but the rear half is bolted in, so all you need to do is cut the front half off your truck, and bolt in the rear. another neat thing is that both pieces of the floor pan on the 60 series bolt in, so when you go to install your high hump front half, you can just drill some holes and bolt it in.

a LCF (snub nose) cab is not a direct bolt in replacement, the front floors are different.

there is a extra floor brace on a 6o series that runs under the front half of the floor hump, that will need to be removed.

Re: 1960-62 C-30,40,50,60 truck cabs

My suggestion is to start looking for trucks in "similar" condition, similar age etc.

I say this because if you have proof of its worth, then you can hold out for more.

SO you said, $13k in receipts, plus the truck? $3k so your in for about $16k or so, not including labor.

If you can find a comparable truck on ebay or CL or?? get pictures and detailed descriptions so you have one or two that come close.

Good luck!

one thing you need to know/remember is that YOU are the claimant not the insureee (not spelled right im sure) its is your truck NOT theirs don't let them take it ...retain salvage and do NOT give them the pink slip/ownership certificate

That just makes me sick to see.....I hope you're alright. You have worked on this truck for so long and have driven it for a relatively short 2 years. I do hope you are justly compensated.

Re: 1960-62 C-30,40,50,60 truck cabs

Extra cab support on a C60.
Factory hole beside drivers seat rear bracket for fuel gauge and reverse lights if I remember incorrectly.
The fender support brackets 8.155 off the incline reinforcement have to be changed to the light duty versions.

Well it was held in with 14 bolts and then spotwelded.....Man does that leave alot of holes in the floor. Notice the extra spot welded bracket behind the clutch rod, this is a support bracket for the vacuum lines from the remote brake booster attached to the frame beneath the cab. There's also the vacuum manifold directly above it just below the master cylinder. There is also a pipe coming out of the rear drivers side cab mount for the Brake Booster Vent.

Re: 1960-62 C-30,40,50,60 truck cabs

I will have to get a couple pics, I think the column bracket is spot welded in a different spot on the firewall, low instead of high. (this is on my 60)

63 will probably be a little different yet because of the non hydraulic clutch....

although it is interesting to note that my 66 60 series retained the hydraulic clutch, and still used the outer cab mount bolts in the front like the 60-62 c/10's

all this should be easy stuff to rectify, however it is good to get it all listed in one spot,

Thank you Captain! Enjoyed driving that truck and always like seeing thumbs up from a lot of people. Compensation I feel is fair and I think it will cover all the repairs if I do a lot of it myself

Just the cab alone I spent $500.00 on just the 2 doors (rust free) and another $500.00 for replacement sheet medal - upper and lower rocker panels, 1 cab support, patch pieces on the floor and lower sections on the front fenders many years ago.. the top cab roof is wrinkled and the cab is tilted on one side but dont see anything on the frame..i have lots more pics but from the accident scene and dont wanna show all 5 kids who were stuffed in a 2002 nissan sentra R (2 poor young girls were hurt and treated) here is a few pics..
