05 Silverado driveline fluids
Good day all. Since its getting colder, I am getting ready to change out my driveline fluids on my 2005 Silverado Z-71 Ecsb. Figured its time just hit 150k. I bought the truck with 70K, 4 years ago. Looking underneath at the everything nothing has been changed out since new. My question is what do you recommend as far as Front diff, Rear diff and Transfer case. Also doing a filter and fluid change on the transmission. I have gotten different results from my repair manual and local parts store. Just want to poll the audience about their preference on fluids. I have the push button 4wd selection switch with 2wd/4wd High/4Wd Lo and Automatic 4Wd and the vin T 5.3
So far I have come up with: Dextron III or VI for the transmission Dextron III or VI for the transfer case. 75W90 for the Rear differential. 80W90 for the Front differential. Thanks Phil

The transfercase does not take ATF You should have the 246 transfer case. The fluid is expensive. Failure to use the right fluid will burn up the clutches in the transfercase. NVG 149-NP3 Manual Transmission Fluid GM P/N 88861800 (Canadian P/N 88861801) NVG 246-NP8 Auto-Trak II, Transfer Case Fluid, GM P/N 12378508 (Canadian P/N 10953626) NVG 261-NP2 Manual Transmission Fluid GM P/N 88861800 (Canadian P/N 88861801) NVG 263-NP1 Manual Transmission Fluid GM P/N 88861800 (Canadian P/N 88861801) Front axle is 80w90 I would recommend 75w90 syn in the front diff And the rear diff takes 75w90 SYNTHETIC |

Re: 05 Silverado driveline fluids
Thanks. Would really hate to burn up my T case especially since winter is coming. Just to make sure tonight I'm crawling underneath to get a definite on what I have.

Re: 05 Silverado driveline fluids
Look at the RPO codes in the glove compartment, If it list NP8, You have to run AutoTrak II fluid in the T-case.
