Question Electric Door locks

I'm wanting to add electric door looks to my truck with remotes. Can someone who has done this tell me what to look for in the Actuators.
What size should I go with and what are some tips for installing them. Pictures are always nice to.
I have found a few kits on E bay but would like to hear what you have to say about them installed in our model trucks before I buy.
Any problems installing them and such.

After talking to tech support at Air Lift I have found out that the kit I need is 60811. Per the measurements I gave them. Ride height of truck inside spring and inside diameter of springs.

Re: Electric Door locks

Make sure you get the high torque actuators. The lock mechanisms on the 67-72's work very hard and need a hard pull.

Re: Electric Door locks

Andy check out VH Coachworks I got mine from them and they work great.

Or check out A1 Electric. You would have to do some fab work to install the A1 Electric locks but shouldn't be too hard. They also offer a power window kit made for the 67-72 C10's

Re: Electric Door locks

Shaved the ones on my GMC. I recommend the largest LB solenoid you can find. I believe mine were 25 lb Autoloc's I used. Plenty of pull for our doors. When you mount them to pull they need to be straight pulling not at a angle inside the door using the cable with a non slipping keeper on the cable. Plan of course relays for full amount of the 12 volts which can lay in the bottom of the doors. Very hard to show pics of setting up the solenoids because it is inside the door. Plus mine are covered with door panels now also. Pull your inside door panels plan well and drill once. I drilled a small hole on each of the stock latches on the doors and that worked well for the cables. Sorta self explanatory when you understand the basics of our stock door latches and places to run power. Then plan your switch locations. Not that hard as it seems to explain. Hardest part is finding power sources and hiding wires. Good luck.

Re: Electric Door locks

I'd be wary of VH coachworks. They haven't logged onto the forum since March and they haven't updated their FB page in a year and half. It was a father/son team, and the dad had some health issues.

I was not aware of the problems that were going on with him and his dad. I bought my items about a year and a half ago. Sorry to hear about his dad and the other issues everyone is having. His stuff was nice quality stuff.

Re: Electric Door locks

I installed a set that my son bought from the LMC truck parts catalog. They work fine with no issues.
