Changing thermostat housing on electric choke??

The rivets on my electric choke housing are missing and now will not stay in proper adjustment due to winter arriving. Ive found a website that sells quadrajet carb parts and will order thermostat housing kit and wire. Is it simple to replace with carb on or will carb have to be removed???? I have to get under the hood on cold starts to lift up choke plate, move it back and forth until mixture and temp equalize, then it will stay open on its own, Im not sure who removed the rivet screws, but they had a zip tie around the thermo cover to hold in place.....

Re: Changing thermostat housing on electric choke??

ellisjay2, the thermostat can be r&r'd with the carb on the vehicle. The replacement stat comes with self tapping screws and the little wing washers (at least whatever I got from Napa years ago did).

Alex.

Re: Changing thermostat housing on electric choke??

I would just put some screws in it to replace the rivets and use the one you have.

That is the best route imo . That way, you can easily adjust the choke setting for winter or summer driving.
