Went to a Junkyard

I got the chance to wander around a country junkyard this weekend. Here are the highlights of the big trucks.

Re: Went to a Junkyard

Looks like an interesting place. I sure do miss Junkyards like that. They're sure not as many around as there used to be.

Re: Went to a Junkyard

I love visiting places like that. Found a couple up in Northern Maine when I was stationed up at Loring AFB (back when it used to exist) and also found some in Merced CA years ago. Haven't been back to either location.

Re: Went to a Junkyard

I almost asked you about the cars!

Interesting collection.

That yard sure has been collecting cars for a long, long time.

I could use the '67 Impala (next to the blue '71) and that '57 4-Dr HT.

Very cool. I recently went to a well organized (by makes and years) yard in Vancouver Washington. While walking the hour and half to complete the tour I wondered how hard it would be to decide which relic to resurrect. Trying to focus on trucks was not easy, the cars were so cool and have so much potential. I don't have pics or a name but the place amazing!

Re: Went to a Junkyard

some nice assortment of vintage tin in that yard ....

some can be saved but most is just scrap and used as part(s) cars ( if they were not robbed of their parts yet )

and i love seeing photo(s) like these, its like they froze in time in not moving in years

Re: Went to a Junkyard

There's a place about 20 miles from me that looks like that. Except the owner's a third generation Mopar fan, so 90% of what he's got is Mopar. But, it takes you all day to see everything he has. From the early 30's and up. I'm guessing C10 - C90 Bill know's who I'm talking about.

I could be wrong, that happened once before, but that looks to be a late 60's dodge D500 or D600. There is one at the local yard here I have been eyeballing for a while. Used to be a firetruck but the box is long gone so it is just a chassis cab now. One day funds might allow me to purchase and make it the ultimate towing/sand dune rig with a huge flatbed and a cummins.........

OK, I've been there once or twice, but it's been a good while now.

Have you ever been to Whitlow's on the mountain?
