Has anyone used this wiper kit from "Classic Parts" $174.95
I like how it comes with the OE style chrome knob.

Yikes, Yeah those are $$$$$ plus I don't like the fact you need to modify the defrost and wont work with original style radio.

Re: Anyone use Classic Parts wiper kit? $174.95

I have the Classic kit on my 50, no issues at all. Also added a delay wiper module I found on eBay, I really like the delay setup.

This is the type I bought, didn't pay that much for mine, but it was 2 years ago.

Oops, forgot to add. I ran up 11,000 miles on my 50 last year, electric/delay wipers are worth the effort. LOL

Yep will do, I might try to do a nice little step-by-step video. As I can't really find anything on the web about it.

Re: Anyone use Classic Parts wiper kit? $174.95

Hello, I installed this Classic kit a few month ago. No problems, fits fine. But the clovebox, original radio and speaker and speedometer was dismounted. A little tricky with the small washers and spring.

I put one on like that a year or 2 ago. I'm not real happy with it. The stroke is short. When they park against the bottom of the windshield they only go about straight up. The switch has a deep clunk when you turn it.

I called Classic today, and they said this kit is a newer version. So i wonder if those issues were address?

How often do you treat your windshield with rain X?

seeing as i wash my windshield a lot compared to my dd maybe once every 2 weeks
my dd (09 sierra) maybe every 4 to 6 weeks and anytime i'm going on a long trip

and to address russell's question: rainx doesn't work as well on the dd, though i rarely turn on the wipers
i think aerodynamics has a lot to do with it; our classic trucks take the brunt of the wind
i know my truk wipers work, just never turn them on
we drove a whole day in the rain on the hrpt 2012 and i drive anytime except for salt season

I installed that same kit in my '47 only issue I see is you can not use the choke cable as it interferes with the motor. Yes, it does come with a knob but it stands up higher then the factory unit. One other thing it does not come with arms, linkage, or blades. It comes as pictured.

Ogre, I bought some Rainex at your suggestion a while back. Since I don't drive my truck much I tried it out on my Suburban. It makes the rain bead up and roll off of the windshield but I don't see it as a complete replacement for wipers.

What do you get in the kit? My project 49 has nothing, do I have to buy wipers, arms, anything else? If so What size arms & wipers?

Found this doing a search at the top. There are more threads. Just word your search as AD and be sure to click 67-72 to get AD stuff.

Re: Anyone use Classic Parts wiper kit? $174.95

I also used the kit on post #1 in my 50 gmc. direct bolt in and and works great! I also had my gauges out so it made it a real easy install.

2nd the motion on the tricky little washers and spring clip though... haa haa
