Cool truck but it's been run hard by the looks of it. You'll find one! I drove hundreds of miles looking for my last one, ended up finding it a couple miles from my house. Good luck!

I'd consider one like that for plowing, but not with a 3spd, not with a Meyers plow, and certainly not for that much money.

WOW, there it is, SWB stepside 4X4 three on the tree! COOL!

It's not THAT rough, I've seen worse and the bed looks fairly good.

That custom whateveritis on the front has got to go!!!

Hey, figure the max you would pay for it and lowball him he can only say no. That is a unique truck, even better if it has the 292!!

I'm learning so much on theses forums. I noticed the buyer listed as C 10. Is it a K 10, or am I confused?

Re: 68 4x4 on cl

I wouldn't say it looks to shabby for $3k. Especially if it runs and drives. Assuming it's mechanically sound, I'd go for it . Heck even assuming it wasn't I would go for it (mostly because I would swap out the motor and trans. anyways). I paid $3,500 for my 72 GMC 2500 4x4 longbed and a lot of the body panels will need fixing or replacing, and the e-brake doesn't work and the rear brake lines needed replacing as they just weren't there lol. Still ran, drove, and stopped but just needed to keep brake fluid on hand lol.

The rear of the frame where the springs mount were almost completly rusted through. Its a shame cause the last 67 we saw that was a k20 was rotting at the same spot, i really hope we can find a nice k10 to wrench on

Not a bad looking truck. $3000 might be a little high though but would make a nice project. Makes me feel a little better about the $1500 I spent on my 72 SWB K10

Re: 68 4x4 on cl

it is really only good for a p.i.t.a plow truck.
every seam on the cab(top to the bottom had holes in it.
frame is rotted pretty good
idk whats holding the bed together.

its amazing that it is a fairly straight looking truck and it is complete running and driving even though the po never had it street driveable .
i would still rock the 30tt
but it would need a cab, doors, frame, complete front clip and a complete bed.

thats too much for me.
as for the price, like anybody else would have tried i was hoping too get it a lil' lower but he wouldnt budge.

the car in the background was a sweet looking impala.

i think the kid was more excited too go see it than me.

What a shame it's in such poor condition. That combination is just too cool, but it sounds like it needs a complete parts truck and a frame repair just to make it safe.
Tott 4x4 SWB stepper! Yeah, too much money. Way too much.

Re: 68 4x4 on cl

I was unaware of all the rust, can't really see it in the pictures. Considering it would need frame work that would definitely knock my pricing down about $1k.

Re: 68 4x4 on cl

I have been wanting a cheap plow truck just to get a few local jobs in my valley to supplement my winter income. Plow till lunch, make a few hundred, and get back to the woodstove. I wouldn't even need registration, although historic tags are cheap and require no inspection. Last year I found a '67 C/30 NAPCO conversion dump truck with plow in original faded red paint that wasn't used out on the salty roads, so very little rust. It was the same money. As much as this was the perfect truck and a great price, the money was hard to come up with and it was over 500 miles away.

I don't care if the truck I got had rust because I want to plow with it and it will certainly get rust. I had a '71 SWB K/10 3ott Custom Deluxe I never had running, but complete. I had put a decent Stepside bed on and used the Fleetside elsewhere. I ended up having to sell it and I got $1,500 for it. The value in the truck was all in the good frame, SPID, VIN-plate, and title. When a frame's rotted (and it's where this truck has it that you need to check) you don't have much of anything but parts. You may be able to repair the frame...if you can find metal good enough to weld to. Rusty repaired OEM shortbed frame or clean shortened longbed frame? I'll go with the latter since the value in being an OEM SWB K/10 frame would disappear.

I don't hate a 3ott...except in a 4wd, especially one to push snow with. They are light duty and first gear/reverse are too tall, not to mention the continuous 1st to reverse shifting. Better to look for a truck set up right.

When a seller says don't expect to make a show truck out of one that has been only used for off hiway snow plowing I translate that into this truck isn't worthy of a restoration, let alone putting back on the road for a driver. It's a good for a plow truck (not for me) till the frame breaks due to the stress put on that rusted area

Re: 68 4x4 on cl

tim you hit the nail on the head. the 3ott dosnt make the best snow pusher thats for sure.even worse if yo have too "rock" your way out of a situation.

when i called the guy on it he stated dont expect a restorable truck. but one guys "unrestorable truck" could be another guys "restorable" truck". everybody has there own opinion on what could be done thats why i went too see it.
this one "could be done" but like i said earlier it would need everything.

someone posted a 67 napco awhile back out in ill. i think it was.
i drooled over that for a few weeks till i checked on a shipper and travel expenses then my drool dried up.

my thoughts were too use this one as the plow truck for a while, while collecting parts(another truck donor) for it.

but as i explained too my kid i wanna get into a 4x4 but not do another frame off cause i dont have the room/space or time.

theres plenty 4x4's on cl in my area but either they need a ton of work off or you would think they have a bed full of gold from the asking prices.

when i stop looking is when a good one will pop up

Re: 68 4x4 on cl

I think that was me who posted the NAPCO once I realized I wasn't a player. I was so excited about it I at least wanted someone here to buy it so it didn't get too far. Spring through summer that would have been a great chore boy and I'd be proud to roll into an antique truck meet. They don't judge or give trophies, just a bunch of guys who love old work horses that want to preserve that part of history and get them all together. At the lighter end of their range, I think it would have gotten a lot of attention from the predominantly medium to heavy truck bunch. Oh well, one that got away
