torque spec for 12 bolt cover bolts

I have a '78 c10 short step with a 250 straight six, and the factory 12 bolt 3:73 rear. Im going to replace the diff cover with one that isn't bent (and hopefully doesn't leak.

Does anyone know the torque spec for the rear cover? 20 ft-lbs?

I can't help you with a torque spec, In my opinion there's no need to torque diff cover bolts. It would probably vary depending on whether you were using a cork gasket or rtv etc. Just get them good and snug with a 3/8 ratchet working in a star or criss-cross pattern similar to wheel lug bolts.

Great advice! If you feel you must torque them, 16-18 ft lbs is all you need with a gasket.
