advise on tire size and lowering kit

I just bought an 85 short bed. Its suppose to have 2 inch spindles in front and shackles in rear. I want to go lower.. I am painting the wheels tomorrow and need to get tires, 15x8 truck ralleys. What size tire can I run with no clearance issues and what lowering kit??

245 60 up front and 275 60 in the rear looks good. If youre in to the big and little look

Re: advise on tire size and lowering kit

I have a 2.5/4 drop on my '85 SWB, running 275/60-15 on the rear and 235/70-15 on the front. 15x7 with 4" backspace on front and 15x8 4" backspace on rear, no rub

Re: advise on tire size and lowering kit

Here is a pic of my truck lowered 4/6. I'm running 255/70/15s on 8" rallies all the way around. It has 3" Belltech drop spindles up front and half a coil cut. The rear has a McGaughy's flip kit with the bump stop bracket removed. Hope this helps.

Does the front ever rub? They look great but look like they might rub on the front under the right conditions.

No notch on the back. As for the front, yes, it does rub on hard dips. If I install shorter tires, I wouldn't have this problem.

Re: advise on tire size and lowering kit

Here are some pics of the rear and front bump stops. The front bump stops were all torn and rotted so I replaced them with the ones in the pic. This also prevents the tire from rubbing on mild to mid dips. The ride is not bumpy or bad at all in case anyone is wondering.

Re: advise on tire size and lowering kit

I'm still using the stock shocks up front and ordered lowered shocks for the rear.
