Will 396 fit in 61 with 84 X-mbr?

I am getting ready to drop my 396 into the frame of my 61, which has a 1984 front crossmember for the disc brakes and PS option. I have seen where folks are dropping big blocks in their trucks and cutting the frames and the firewalls to fit the BB but I was wondering if anyone made it fit with the newer crossmember like I have done. I also installed the 1984 engine perches that held a 350 SB, and I think I read that those will not fit under a 396. Is that correct? Anyways, If the motor hits at the firewall I will most likely slide the thing forward. Thanks for any input!

The front crossmember has little to do with engine fitment. The absence of the torsion bars will help immensely but the big X-member in the middle of the frame will make for a challenge with accessability and routing exhaust. In using the '84 engine mounts, you will need a rather tall spacer on top of the frame for them to be in the correct position. When the engine mounts are bolted to them the center to center of the holes for the thru bolts has to be the correct distance. The clamshells (mounts) from the '50 will definitely fit the 396.
