Filling rebuilt trans question
Why can't you fill rebuilt trans at first time start up?

Re: Filling rebuilt trans question
It won't fill entirely before being started. You'll need to add the remaining fluid while it's idle. Don't wait too long to do this. While it's idling, the fluid in the pan will move to the torque converter (if empty) etc... Keep adding (proper total amount) and checking, adding, checking until it registers full. Then at a standstill, shift through the gears, keeping it in each gear for a couple minutes, then back. Recheck fluid to top it off.

Re: Filling rebuilt trans question
I would strongly advise filling the torque converter before installing it.

If you know the proper capacity of your trans, and you know if you know it's completely empty, then you can keep track of what you add. In my case I could only get 5 qts in. No idea if the rebuilder filled the converter. Once I fired it up, ran it for a bit and got 2 more in. After driving it back and forth and so on I was able to get another 2 in. I think total capacity is 9 for mine.

Re: Filling rebuilt trans question
I start with 4 or 5 qts if totally empty then start and fill till its full. You do not want to start the trans empty
