Louvered panels
I was thinking of adding these to the hood of my 64 GMC.
Mounting to the underside of the hood painted same red as truck with a thin polished aluminum trim ring on top. Opinions accepted. |

Re: Louvered panels
It's your truck, do what you want and what makes you happy.
If it were mine, I would not do it. If your hood was not painted, or you have extra paint, I would do what xray said, have it louvered the correct way. I can tell you that when I was looking for a truck, I passed up a lot of nice trucks because of poorly done mods. Jim |

Re: Louvered panels
No. Get the real deal. Or the bilit 67-69 Camaro square ones might look better.

Re: Louvered panels
Just curious why do you want to add them for looks or are you having a problem with under hood temperature?

Re: Louvered panels
Thank you 66lsx
You seem to understand the look I am after. Thanks for posting those photos. I may have been pre-mature posting my original pictures. The idea is to mimic the look of the Camaro vents with a narrow polished aluminum outer trim ring and rather then mesh on the inside go with the louvers. The pictures I posted were just to show where I intended to place them, same as the early Camaros. They would be painted black or the same red as the hood. I was planning on mounting the louvers to the underside of the hood with the trim ring lining the hole in the hoid, with no exposed fasteners. I wasn't planning on attaching with duct tape, large bolts or bent over spikes. WOW, tough crowd!! |
