saw one like this in Houston
I spoke with two guys in a truck just like this a few weeks ago.
I was working on my '71 GMC on memorial just off i-10 (in the Target parking lot) in Houston Texas, when two skinny shirtless guys pulled up in a truck almost exactly like this photo. They asked me if I needed any help, which I declined but we spoke about the truck for a bit. This truck looked just like the photo as far as I can remember but without the toolbox. Instead, there was a black vinyl cover held on by velcro across the back. The paint and chrome was in immaculate condition. Interior doors had woodgrain I believe. A very new type stereo had been installed in place of the original.. The dash panel was black as was the steering wheel. He said he was having trouble with the starter solenoid, that it needed to be iced down to start. He said he was planning to get a paint job and take all the chrome off, which was weird considering it's near perfect original colors. The paint was heavily clear coated. I didn't get any contact information for them though.. I have no idea who they were. Good luck! dj_virto@patrickhoyt.com |

I'll keep my eyes open
I'll post if I see another truck like it. Good luck getting it back.
I park mine in the heights, so far so good.. but I keep a 'Club' on the steering wheel and lock the hood with a heavy chain. Also, I installed a hidden interrupt switch that must be pressed to start with the key wires.. The next step is to put a steel plate blocking access to the starter solenoid.. Also, I plan to put in a Windows 98 computer that runs all the time with a video motion detection security system sending photos of motion back to the house via 802.11 I've had one car stolen here in town before and I DO NOT want it to happen again! |
