Sams60gmc's new 66 GMC project.
Stumbled on to this truck thru a friend. 66 GMC custom cab big back window long bed with the perfect patina.
Body is super solid and the interior is in excellent shape, we believe it's a 2 owner truck. Put a deposit down on it yesterday and hopefully picking it up Tuesday if the current owner has a chance to get the camper off. Plans are to preserve the patina and get it running and driving for now. Then to do a quick parallel 4 link with a watts, fabricated raised crossmember in the front, with the 350/350 combo I have for my 60 since that's a ways down the road. Now for the pics.

Re: Sams60gmc's new 66 GMC project.
I've been working on the truck a bit lately. Buffing on it with some 000 steel wool and some CLR Remover. I love how its looking, lots of potential under that oxidation.
Also trying to line up a rear end for the truck, been working on my 4 link parts also. Something simple, probably a really beefy parallel 4 link with a watts.

Nice looking truck! The grill looks to be in great shape, and nice to see the custom cab badges intact.

Re: Sams60gmc's new 66 GMC project.
Thanks guys. Finally had a chance to get some good pictures taken of the truck. I have the whole passenger side of it done with the CLR. After the rest of it is done I'll grab some Patina Preserver and spray it down...
Also I got it running, with just a little love to the points

Its a aresol product from Eastwood to spray over your paint to preserve the look of your patina, its pretty neat.

Re: Sams60gmc's new 66 GMC project.
Wow... all that door and window trim !!
Awesome. I wish I could find the GMC Custom emblems that go up in the sail panel area. I always thought they were the coolest of all the Custom emblems made for these rigs. (except mine of course, but mine are over the top a little) Congrats on the addition, hope you are haveing a great holiday season !!

Great looking project truck - I agree with McMurphy, wish mine would have still had the GMC custom emblems.

Re: Sams60gmc's new 66 GMC project.
Not too much to report. I put my refurbished tank out of my 60 into this truck, flushed all the fuel lines and installed a electric pump.
Also Ive been working on some 4 link parts. Hopefully picking up a Trans Am rear end this week to toss under it. Also bought myself a little birthday present. I thought these little fold up welding tables were kinda neat so I finally splurged on one...

Re: Sams60gmc's new 66 GMC project.
Kinda looks a bit cheezy to me...my 66' GMC came with it. I pulled it off thinking someone just fashioned it there and it wasn't all complete anyway.

Re: Sams60gmc's new 66 GMC project.
Been quite a while since ive had a chance to work on this thing... had a few days during this holiday weekend to get busy... I brought the frame table in and got to work installing the new rear frame section and front fabricated crossmember.
