My $50 LS 5.3 and 4L60E

Been watching CL for a 5.3 for some time. I wanted a 2wd sub or 1500 so I could use the tranny, rad, and related parts to swap into my 62 C10...Managed to score a 2000 sierra 1500 2wd extra cab for $1000.00. Did a couple of burnouts up the block engine and tranny worked excellent...Removed all the parts I wanted (Harness, engine, tranny, driveshaft, front seat, radiator, etc.etc and sold the leftovers for $950.00. Sometimes the sun shines on a dogs butt....

Now that's how you do it...burnouts and all. Nice work.

Re: My $50 LS 5.3 and 4L60E

I'm in a similar situation with an lq4/4l80e in a 2004 2500hd.

My questions is how to you go about parting the left overs out?

It seems like an extremely daunting and time consuming task...I though about a junk yard but they just give you scrap.

I placed a parts add on Craigs and got calls from people wanting a power window switch etc. Because I travel for work my truck time is limited. Reposted for the whole truck. The guy who bought it needed the box, and I had 3 other guys that were ready to buy. He told me the box would be $1000 at the wrecker...

Nice score! I'm in the same boat and bought a wrecked Yukon with a good engine and trans for $1200. I'm crossing my fingers I'll be able to sell the rest off to recoup that money like you did.

Thats awesome. I picked at a 140k 4.8l for $600 with all accessories and I thought that was a good deal. Finding the right 4l60e transmission is proving harder to find that the motor was.

Re: My $50 LS 5.3 and 4L60E

That's the way to go when you find a cheap enough donor. I bought a 98 Camaro Z28 with broken rods for $1800 because I wanted the t56 and misc engine accessories all to go on my 6.0 long block for my 69 Firebird. It took at least a year selling parts but I'm at about $7 profit and kept what would've cost me a couple grand, and I still have some parts to sell. Haven't been lucky enough to find a cheap enough truck to do the same with yet.
