Low Mile Lambrecht Truck on Ebay

This is pretty interesting....very low mile truck (4.6 miles) from that Lambrecht Auction.
http://www.ebay.com/itm/331392767851...ht_5047wt_1263
Looks like its being sold by one of the family members who apparently had it restored after the auction?.....seems odd but..?
They are definitely not giving it away tho' at an opening bid of $28K.
Should be interesting...but I don't think its going to go too much higher myself and I'm guessing it probably won't sell for the big money but thats just me.
Still, very nice original example and should be an interesting 'watch'.
All Good

Re: Low Mile Lambrecht Truck on Ebay

I doubt it will fetch 60k but who knows these days. I sort of have mixed feelings about these types of vehicles and the owners that had a chance to sell them while useful instead of letting them rot in a field until the inevitable truth comes that you're not going to do anything with them. It's both sad and interesting at the same time. I think guys who flocked there paying insane amounts of money because of original miles for trucks that look like that got taken in by the circus that auction and story became.
To me it's no different then the lone auto some guy won't sell ever because of the one day he's gonna fix it up and it ends up turning to dust or scrapped.

Re: Low Mile Lambrecht Truck on Ebay

Personally, I think the seller destroyed the value of the truck by restoring it. Who cares if the drivetrain has 4 miles? It's now a "restored" (and very nice!) 1964 longbed C10 with a neat story. Again, I feel they killed the value by restoring it... I see it has a ~$13-15,000 truck.

If they had gone through the mechanicals, fixed leaks, and made it run/drive like new again and only did paint restoration (restored the original paint, not remove it) I think it would be worth what they are asking.

That be my opinion, yo.

Lambrecht Truck ?

So frickin what.

The President of the United States was once in the same State at the same time as my truck. Does that constitute provenance?

The only thing that impresses me about those vehicles is that the marketing team managed to get such a large number of highly suggestible people in one spot at one time. It's almost like they were selling used celebrity underwear.

I agree this is an insane price. That truck is as good as a fully restored truck that may go for 20-25k on a good day. All significance is gone IMO

The Man Behind the Legend? Ray P. Lambrecht?

Legend? More like; Boob that let good equipment go to rot.

There are too many good trucks out there you can get for a good price, with real stories. The CL listing is entertainment for sure.

Re: Low Mile Lambrecht Truck on Ebay

I was at the auction. Stuck my head in one of the 64 long beds. It was like getting in my granddads truck when I was 10 or so. It was pretty cool. Took a short video of how nice inside was. Then how nasty the outside was. Had 4.5 miles on it. It sold for 17k at the auction. I don't think the lambrecht kids were bidding on anything. People were throwing stupid money out. I've seen some other cars on eBay from the auction. 66 nova and the truck listed now. Crazy. Just crazy

Lol would have made a good sign at the front gate to the auction.

Re: Low Mile Lambrecht Truck on Ebay

My ex wife is from Columbus Nebraska. Her dad knew Ray. Said he made his money on government contracts supplying vehicles to the government. Said Ray was different kind of fella. Told me about the field of cars. I didn't believe it. Who does that? Yard sticks from 1963-64 were selling for 400 bucks apiece.

Re: Low Mile Lambrecht Truck on Ebay

I think one of the most odd results from the auction(to me anyway) was the 69 chevelle ss with a crushed roof that sold for like 28k. It was a used car with 78k? Miles on it. I just couldn't fathom why. At least the cars were eventually sold so they didn't sit anymore...

Crushed roof, rusted quarters, no glass and the interior was junk. But it was a 396 car. $27,500

Re: Low Mile Lambrecht Truck on Ebay

The only thing about the Lebrecht auction that attracted me was seeing all of those classics in one place, then came the price people were paying for them. Now seeing them "restored" and the people trying to get insane amounts of money from them, it just keeps getting better.

I went to that auction, very cool seeing all those cars and trucks, but sad that they were in such rough condition. And wow the stupid prices people paid! We just stood back and watched.

Re: Low Mile Lambrecht Truck on Ebay

I don't buy what was spoon fed to the public. Dealers had to pay GM for those new vehicles, they were not free. IMO, nobody could afford buy all those vehicles new, never sell them and still stay in business. I have a hunch these vehicles were written off the books for some reason, or for some scheme, and the net cost to Lambrecht was $0.00 each.

Wondered that too,how do you just not sell and eat the cost of hundreds of autos?

Nice looking truck. I just can't see 4.6 miles I don't care who you are. People back then didn't buy trucks to put up in a building to sell 60 years later. Not even dealers. I just don't believe it not for a second. Sorry

Get out and drive the truck this summer and have some fun!
It sucks not being able to hear!

LWB trucks rule, if you don't think so measure your SWB!
After talking to tech support at Air Lift I have found out that the kit I need is 60811. Per the measurements I gave them. Ride height of truck inside spring and inside diameter of springs.

Not saying what he did made sense but it kinda worked out (probably luck) that the family was able to cash in on his decisions later and so many now are getting entertainment out of it now. The fact is the auction brought a lot of money to that area and to that family. Of course, it would have been much better had they been stored inside or taken better care of. I don't think he was a visionary but he probably was more succesful than most people and now many old cars/trucks are being saved. Had they all been sold at the time, the majority would not exist to this day, and would have been reincarnated as a blender made in china.

As for the speculation on a financial scheme, its not as if the vehicles were hidden. Anyone who wanted to probe the issue could have back in the day.

Re: Low Mile Lambrecht Truck on Ebay

I don't understand you guys. If that guy wrote up a different story where he found it in a barn and restored it to "new", you would have been all over it saying how nice it was, and how awesome it was to be like new. On price, we all have different opinions. I can tell you up here that there are similar trucks that were restored for similar prices (being sold by board members). Seems just so easy to trash something that isn't yours and you didn't have any part in restoring. What ever happened to if you don't have anything nice to say then keep your mouth shut!?!?

I know nothing of the seller or the truck. Its a beautiful truck with an interesting history (regardless of whether or not you believe it). I hope that he gets what he wants and a new buyer is able to enjoy such a beautiful truck.

Who's trashing the truck and saying it isn't nice? Who's trashing the seller ? People are only discussing those trucks and cars in general.
