New Member from Ca

Hey everyone,

I'm a new member here. My names Arte, I'm from Vista, California. I got my 68' camper special from the Original owner about a year ago. So far I've redone the exhaust and had to redo some wiring and a few minor things but my goal is to just keep it running and as original as possible.

Here are some photos!

Re: New Member from Ca

Yellow trucks are cool so are green.

Not many people care to have 3/4 ton trucks for one gas prices.I just found out 2 weeks ago CCP.com that makes spindles for these trucks Now makes one that let you keep all of your 3/4 ton components but use the 1/2 ton spindle so you can run the better rims and 15 inch tires.

If you have a leaf spring rear end then you can swap out a 1971--87 1/2 ton rear end and now you have a 1/2 ton truck.

Just to remind new people with these trucks This is most important If you have power steering Box

DO NOT BUY ONE FROM AUTO ZONE OR ANY ONE OF THESE PARTS HOUSES

If yours is lose or leaking have it rebuilt the ones you get from the parts house are only 3 turn boxes yours have a sharper turn radius.Plus your Box is worth $400.00 the one they sell you is 150.00 Don't be fooled Keep most your factory parts.

I for got to add this if you have a coil spring rear end They make a conversion for and 1963--70 1/2 ton rear ends turning them in to 5 lug rear ends with new axles Bearings and spider gears and c clips it runs $550.00 from WWW.truckandcarshop.com.

Felt new members need all the help possible Plus if you want to run a over drive trans the 700R4 get the one out of the trucks or the Corvette a 1987--92 are the best over drive cable
transmission you can get with all the new up dates

One last thing If you have a 283--400 small block and you run Ram horns exhaust in your truck If you want the long spark plug wires so you can put the 1/3 on the driver side and the 2/4 on the passenger side and want to run them throw the motor mounts on ether side.

Ask for the 1973 corvette spark plug wires and in 1973 HEI came out so there the 8mm wires remember to take the boots off before you put the wires throw the motor mount between the block and the mount

keeps them them from being on top of the motor if your running headers your on your own

Thumbs up Re: New Member from Ca

Great truck, really cool color combinations. I love your idea of your future plans for it too. OG'd out! Another member near you who's on here parts out a lot of these trucks should have original parts to keep you running.
