Speedo Cable Length?

I put a 250 straight six in my 53 3100 with a 83 s10 T5 and I think the speedo cable is going to be to short. I still have the stock gauges.

Any advice on what I need and where to find one?

Re: Speedo Cable Length?

is the stock 53 cable too short or is the s10 cable too short?

I'm just assuming that the cable for the s10 will work with the stock gauge, auto zone , napa , orieilies all sell universal speedo cables of different lengths.

Re: Speedo Cable Length?

I use 67 chevelle speedo cables. They are just right. There are 2 lengths, get the shorter one. I think it is like 67 inches. $10 at Oreillys.

Re: Speedo Cable Length?

73-82 4wd trucks uses an extender because the speedo drive in on the rear of the transfercase. I used the one off my 74 donor from the transfer to stock 59 cable.

Re: Speedo Cable Length?

The stock 53 cable is to short...I don't have an s-10 one.

I wasn't sure if a parts house replacement would work with my factory gauges...sounds like it will.

I didn't realize just an extension was available...that might be an option.
