c20 front inner grease seal - can you still get them?
Have a 1962 C20. Wondering if you can still get the front hub inner grease seal?
Been googling, lots of seals popping up, but they all look like the seal I got at the auto parts store that won't work. Thanks in advance, Matt |

Rockauto shows National and Timken both as part number 8243. National numbers are the industry standard that other brands often use too, so if you get a different brand that is labeled 8243 or crosses to 8243 you should be good.

8243 is the part # the autoparts store came up with, and it is NOT right.

I didn't get another pic because I ended up trying to re-use it again. I still would like to find one, not sure if this one will last that long or work that well. I had to remove the front brake drum and I had to heat the drum with the rosebud tip until the entire thing was glowing red. The hub got pretty hot as well and grease was running out the back of the hub like used oil. Matt |

Re: c20 front inner grease seal - can you still get them?
Cant help on the front seal but i had to replace the rears on mine and was ale to get the right ones from autozone, Not to change the subject too much, but we're the pads you replaced narrower than the originals? I have a 1960 c20 and the pads at autozone were about half the width of the ones that are on my truck now.. So i didn't replace the pads yet since it didn't look right, ,

That being said, I would not order from rockauto.com again. The pads were fine, but I ordered wheel cylinders as well on the same order and they weren't even close to being the right ones. I bought the new drums from O'reilly for $33 bucks each and then got the wheel cylinders there as well....and they were the right ones. Few more bucks for the wheel cylinders, but they are correct and if they were wrong at least I could have dealt with someone locally. My 2 cents. Matt |
