Post Your Old School Vintage SBC Motor

I have a 283 with WAY too much shiny stuff on it for my liking. I saw somewhere that a guy used a modified diesel air cleaner to give a vintage look to the motor. I'm looking for pics/ideas on how to get back to a more vintage look.

Thanks

Re: Post Your Old School Vintage SBC Motor

I'll have to find a picture, but it's still just a long block on a stand. mine's a 327 painted orange with cast aluminum intake, early Z/28-LT-1 valve covers, and a GM car dual snorkel air cleaner. The top is chrome and I want to powdercoat that low gloss black. I may paint the intake orange, but it's already buttoned up with ARP bolts. I guess if I need to take it off I will. I paint everything else as close to original as I can

Heres my 350 I just rebuilt...Original motor, rebuilt stock except for a Lunati cam & lifters. Had hardened seats put in the heads. Jet stage two Quadrajet 4MV. It's my work horse. Factory wood bed, heavy rear springs and overloads. 3:73 12-bolt Posi...Her name is "Belle"...She tows Sally to the drag strips, Norma Jean to the pastures that need mowin, and she also hauls a 1980 KZ-1000 ST- MKII around...Whenever I find a Hardley that thinks its fast... Heres a link with a few more pics... https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?...1&l=2732e9b194

Nice vintage 350. I like how you have hard line ran from the fuel pump to carb. Do you have a inline filter from the fuel pump and carb?

Re: Post Your Old School Vintage SBC Motor

I don't have pics but I do have the mental image that I'm goin for, 350 with triple deuce intake and 97s, finned valve covers and a set of side pipes. Gonna build one for a 30s ford I really want to build. Also, can never go wrong with a Cadillac motor and air cleaner lol good luck on your search, posts pics with what you decide on.
