Re: Age old brake question
staying 6 lug? planned wheel type (dia, etc)? This will drive your decision. If stock wheels, then you'll need 71 or newer steelies - 70 and earlier will rub the caliper. If aftermarket wheels, then you're probably fine. Easiest way is to convert to the 71-72 brake system. If you're thinking Wilwood and have a 4.8lsx planned, then I'm gonna go out on a limb and guess aftermarket big wheels? (could be wrong). That opens up all kinds of options for you - including Wilwood.
Personally, I like the POL (Performance OnLine) kits. Complete, good service, etc. CPP carries about anything you could imagine, but I haven't been bowled over by the service. If you want to go 5 lug, most of the above offer rear conversion axles so you can be 5 lug all the way around. I lean toward complete kits when I go the kit route. Personally, unless I'm going slalom racing (which I don't), I think the stock 71/72 front power brake system is more than sufficient for just about any build you can come up with. Beyond that is usually more show than go. Or, well, I guess I mean more show than stop. |

Re: Age old brake question
I bought the early classic enterprise kit last year. Breaks and drop kit with spindles with trac bar and sway bar. I did not have to make a single trip to the parts store. It includes everything and the quality is top notch. I talked to the tech line for 5 minutes just to be sure on a few things. I can not say enough good things about those guys.
