New guy from Pittsburgh

I didn't see a newb thread so I figured I would just post in here. New to the C10 world. Bought a 68 long bed step side over the weekend. Been looking for a while for a decently priced C10 and finally found one. Every time I type "C10" in the Google's, I always seem to be directed to this site. So, I took it as a sign to join!

Re: New guy from Pittsburgh

Thanks Bill.
I'm Rob by the way. What area are you from? I'm in the Carnegie area. Roslyn heights to be exact.
About the best I can do for pics is what the previous owner has sent me. I got it local, went to look at it Saturday and put the money on it. I'm picking it up around new years. He needs to gather all the parts for it and I will tear the hell out of his yard with the 38' gooseneck trailer. Hoping for a frost here now.

Re: New guy from Pittsburgh

Without physically having it in my possession I went and got some wheels for it yesterday. Ralley 6lug. 15x8 front and 15x10 rears. Couldn't pass on the deal. Currently there are aluminum slotted ones on it.

Haha. Exactly. I can never figure it what they were thinking when these roads were built. At least the parkway construction has been put on hold till spring.

Rob, I'm right on the border of North Side and Ross Twp. Not far from you at all. Where did you pick up your 68?

Oh man, a very good friend of mine lives over there. On Roosevelt, off of Baskim I think is the connecting road.
I found it on Craigslist and the guy lives in south greensburg. Down past Youngwood. He and I agreed together that I will pick it up around new years. Makes it easier for he and I both. Christmas time is pretty hectic usually. Tough to fit that in.

Re: New guy from Pittsburgh

The more I sit here and think about it though, I want it now! Haha. I keep looking around here and seeing some really nice trucks, its giving me a ton of motivation. I'm usually the guy that finds something and wants it yesterday...not tomorrow. This is the absolute first time I've ever played the "Patience" card. Hahaha

Re: New guy from Pittsburgh

This is NOT my pic. Its the pic the owner sent me. I couldn't really get any good pics Saturday night mainly because it was dark out and the garage he has it in is very dimly lit.

Re: New guy from Pittsburgh

This is the bad side of the cab. The inner and outer rocker came with the truck. There's a cab corner in there also but the corner was actually really nice.
Everything else I had to see in person mainly because its all stuffed away in his loft of the garage. I didn't snap any pics because I was using the phone as a flash light.

But, I can honestly assure you, its my truck now. Just need to take possession In a couple weeks and get started on finishing up the project. The frame is almost perfect. There is no rot or any scaley areas. So either he did a great job filling everything in or it was just a nice frame to begin with. He did say he put a small plate in near the rear coils. If he did, he cut it right.

The wheels you have on your truck look exactly like the ones I bought yesterday. Only difference is the guy painted them black.

Thanks! I go through cranberry every Friday night on our way to lernerville for the dirt track races. A good friends nephew runs super late model there.
Yeah, I spotted it about a month ago, sent a few text's back and fourth. To get his and my schedule lined up was tough but we finally did. I'm glad we did too! I feel like I have a good solid foundation to start with.
