Hi all ,
I told you a while ago that I swapped a Yamahe XS650 for a 1986 Burb , with a 6.2 Diesel/700R4 combo.
That 6.2 had a connecting rod problem.
I decided to part out my current 1979 C10 , put its Olds 350/TH350 combo into the Burb , selling the 6.2 for parts ( 400 $ ? ), selling the 700R4 ( at least 500 $ ) , making some cash to restore the 1979 front end & to put it also on the Burb.

Funny case : that Burb was imported from texas in 1995 , but the importer mislead ( intentionally ? ) in the title , so the truck is registered as a 1967 Burb ( more than 25 years old ) , so I will pay 25 $ tax a year , instead of 2000$ , hehe !
I don't have to go to the yearly MOT inspection either !

I hope I will be done with the job at the end of september.

about the TH350 , I took a look at the pan , to see if it matches one of the schemes I saw on Swervin's site , it doesn't ??
there is on the pan the mention : "Hydramatic"
What trans do I have ?
VIN number : CCZ1491172642

I think i will be more present on this site , to ask a lot of questions about that swap

I took a look at the pan shape thread , I have a TH400

RR axle on the C10 : 12 bolts Posi , two pieces drive shaft
RR axle on the Burb : 10 bolts ( pegleg ? ) , one piece drive shaft
Can I just swap the engine/tranny combo and use the existing Burb drive shaft
( same length TH400 vs. 700R4 ? )

What kind of a connecting rod problem did the 6.2 have? air vents on the side of the engine block?

or just a bad bearing?
I _might_ be interested if it's a relatively low-mileage engine otherwise.

Looks like you had the same combo in your 1979 C10 as I have in my 1979 C15 (GMC). Originally the C10 probably came with a diesel engine. This is the case with my truck. And I think the TH400 was the preferred transmission for the diesel engine in 1979. Isn't the bolt pattern the same for your TH700R and your TH400? Maybe you can swap transmissions and use the TH700R in the burb.

The 700R4 has the "Chevy" bolt pattern whilst your 400 has the B.O.P (Buick, Oldsmobile, Pontiac) one unless it was mated to your olds 350 with an adapter plate and is a Chevy version (i doubt it). Over here lots of C-10s can still be found with a running Olds 350D(X) diesel, in fact they usually sell for a lot more than a gasser. That's the result of ridiculous fuel pricing.

Hi Guys ,
the seller told me it was a bearing problem ( you know , that "clong-clong-clong" noise ) because the oil used was a bad quality.
It was first sold to another guy who began to part it out , but couldn't pay for it , so it came back to the previous pissed seller.

Rock HQ , I have no idea about the 6.2 engine mileage , nor the tranny mileage.
It would be a long trip anyway to come to catch it ...

the engine I have now in my C10 is an gassed Olds one , been installed by a previous owner , probably after a lot of breakdowns on the original Diesel 350 , so the TH400 has the B.O.P. pattern

I will begin next tuesday evening , working the whole wednesday , I hope I 'll be able to do the swap very fast.

Are you planning on selling the 6.2 as a whole engine or would you be willing to part it out and sell just the heads&intake? Btw, i assume your suburban is a C-10, not a C-20?
