67 SWB Build

Newbie here with rebuilding from the frame up. I was in the middle of building a 93 chevy when I got the call from dad…saying he just drove past a 67 short bed with a for sale sign. BTW - my dad is in the middle of rebuilding a 69 swb step side. He tells me you need to come and get this truck. "If I didn't have mine or if I had space I would get it" So I take 1.5 hour drive down to Bowling Green, VA to check it out. And this is what I came home with….

Re: 67 SWB Build

So far I've taken the bed off and started working on the frame. What do you all think of this bed? Should I replace it or try to salvage this one? Forgive me in advance if I ask the "obvious" or newb questions.

Re: 67 SWB Build

Good one to start with... On the Bed it depends on the build you want... if you want a REALLY NICE show type of truck I would suggest replace it but if you are looking to do a patina truck I would go with this one and doo a little clean up on it...

Re: 67 SWB Build

If you decide to sell it, let me know, I'm looking for a patina white bed. I bought a 67 one ton white step and I want to change to short bed fleetside.

Thanks! I'm definitely not going the patina route. So more than likely I will be getting a new one.

If you do a new reproduction Bed take my advise and try not to get the brand "Counter Parts"... I had several issues with mine... I have a friend that had done a few of the Counter Part bed and had good luck with them...

Here is mine after getting several replacement parts and fitting them...

It's definitely for sale. No need for it anymore.

Re: 67 SWB Build

This purchase has taken away from my 67 build, lol….now I'm torn as to which one do I finish first. I will stick with doing the truck, since the Burb runs like a champ.

Re: 67 SWB Build

Well I actually have it listed on ebay right now. A few things have popped up forcing me to cut ties with it. But for some reason it doesn't leave. I think I will just suck it up and move slowly on it.
