Boss 338 wheels

I have a 1970 stepside swb. trying to decide on which wheels to buy. I want something like the boss 338 or similar. want to go with a one piece wheel.i do not want to go extremely wide or tall. thinking 17 or 18 inch.do want to run tires with a sidewall. I have called discount tires and another dealer and they cant tell me much. my truck has been converted to 5 lug. idont want to spend a fortune. any body have pictures or suggestions? who has best price?

Re: Boss 338 wheels

I bought mine from TNT motor sports in Tulsa. Tommy Lee is the guys name. He sets up a lot of these trucks and can set you up with exactly what you're looking for.

went with Boss 338s 20 X 8.5s Front and 20 X 10 Rear. Tires are Falken Azenis they can be swapped side to side even though they're staggered.

Re: Boss 338 wheels

I really like my Riddlers. Thinking about getting rid of the 18s for the same wheel but in 20s. They do come in black centers as well. There's a pretty good deal on them on the Vender section of the board.

No the best pics but my truck with black Boss 338s (20s/22s)

Re: Boss 338 wheels

Its kind of a hodge podge drop. 2.5" drop spindles with I think 2 coils cut out of the front (too low to drive really), and drop springs (belltech I think) with 2" blocks in the rear. Bought the truck with the setup in the pics.

Re: Boss 338 wheels

I have the Boss wheels but kinda wish I went Riddlers. They give you a deeper lip than the Boss wheels.

20x8.5 with Nitto(60k mile warranty)

Re: Boss 338 wheels

Mines McGauheys 2-1/2 drop spindles with stock springs and I have leaf springs out back, so we removed 3 leafs, custom built shackles and no "C" notch but urethane bump stops and stiff KYB monomaxs.

You decide to sell those 18's give me a yell, I may be interested in taking them off your hands if the price is right.

Get out and drive the truck this summer and have some fun!
It sucks not being able to hear!

LWB trucks rule, if you don't think so measure your SWB!
After talking to tech support at Air Lift I have found out that the kit I need is 60811. Per the measurements I gave them. Ride height of truck inside spring and inside diameter of springs.

I'm doing a really similar drop and size but need to know specs before I order.
What size tires did you use and whats your backspacing F&R?
What spindles up front?

Thanks

I think only 5 lug, the lug nuts are deeply recessed and use a special socket

I have early classic 2.5 spindles and 1.5 springs on the front and 6 inch springs on the back. The tires on front are 255/50/18 and the rears are 295/40/20. I will have to check on the backspacing.

Re: Boss 338 wheels

Looks like you have some comparisons right here in this thread, 1968aj.

Mine's the third (silver) one.

It has 2.5" drop spindles and 2" drop coils (All ECE) up front, and 6" drop coils with no c-notch in the rear.

The wheels are, of course, Boss 338's. 8.5 x 20 in front and 10 x 20 in the back When I bought mine, there was no choice in b/s.
I think it was 6.23"....For that reason, the Riddlers look very enticing.

The tires I'm running are 245/40 and 275/45. I'm also running billet 1" spacers up front, and 1.25" in the rear. Long story,
but I needed a little more room from the inside of the tires in the back.

No rubbing. No touching lock to lock up front, and no hitting the bumpstops in the rear (although, I only give it light but consistent use).

Also, I've used all the ECE stuff like fat sway bar up front and shocks and shock relocation kit, along with the ECE trailing arms.
That may make a difference.
