Cool Front clip 84 to 89-91?

OK, I know this has been beat to death...but what exactly do I need from a 89-91 burn to change front clip?
My current setup on my truck is 84 c10 double headlights park lights in front bumper which I would like to keep as is. Pick a part has a couple 89-91 burbs front ends complete, just a quick description of the swap/wiring and parts I need to snag. Also, I have a new set of 94-99 burb headlights with hid bulbs that I was told would work fine with this swap, is this a hassle free kind of thing because I have no experience wiring anything. A walkthrough would be grrreat and as always thanks for your time in advance! It is greatly appreciated. Pics would also be nice.

Re: Front clip 84 to 89-91?

core support, grill and lights are needed.

94-98 lights will go into a 88-90 GMT400 with dual sealed beams. I haven't heard of them being used on the square bodies.

The front of a square is flat, and the 88-98 is angled. For the lights to fit right in the opening, the beams of light would cross each other.

I have seen one pic of a square with composites, but it had celebrity headlights. I will try to find it.

Edit, found it:

Re: Front clip 84 to 89-91?

I just did the swap in my 84 also. my junk yard trip consisted of grille lights radiator support and i took most the wiring but instead of unplugging the ole harness from the fire wall (which I regret) i cut about a foot from the harness plug. I am not sure if they plug directly in from the 84 to 91 fuse panel but i would still just unplug and take all the wiring and atleast try to plug it in.

I am with 95 s trucker on the 94-98 suburban lights although I have never looked into that. Also when swapping the radiator support I suggest taking the fenders off. It was a hazzle to shimmy that in place with them fully bolted in.

No, Corsica lights will be very angled, because the car has a sloping front end. google 87 celebrity. Caprice lights might work too.

Re: Front clip 84 to 89-91?

^got confused on the Corsica was picturing something else. On another note found a vid with a guy who is using 94-99 headlights, but had to cut the front to make them flush. On my 98 suburban I adjusted the two top screws on the headlight to make it not angled. Just trying to save some coins and use what I already have. And as always many thanks for your help/time.

Re: Front clip 84 to 89-91?

No problem, at my junk yard I was able to get core support, lights and wiring all for 60 bucks. thankfully all the lights were actually good. If you do the even newer suburban lights I would be very interested in seeing pictures.

Re: Front clip 84 to 89-91?

I think a lot of people aren't understanding the lights part. 88-91 suburbans come with sealed mini-quads. The only composite lights that fit "right" are the Celebrity. The Monte Carlo Caprice and Impala are a different size (think proportion) than the turn signals. You might get the newer suburban lights to MOUNT flush, but they'll be pointing inwards like they're cross-eyed when they're on. I seen a guy from Houston on this forum cut it he back of the light bulb (very carefully I'm sure) and install projector headlights, which looked awesome.

Yeah and I've replaced the whole front clip of a 73 gmc with a 89 front clip? But small problems popped up. You can't run 89 wire harness with an 86 engine.

^Didn't know that…how do you tackle that? Just simple splicing or something more involved. Thanks to all and to all a good night. Happy holidays!

Complete harness swap from the cab to the rear of the truck. Quite fun if you understand how to read the wire diagrams. However, my manual is between 73 and 76.
