Aftermarket valve cover oil port

I assume it will take forever to add oil with these aftermarket valve covers since there is a metal screen underneath both caps? What is the purpose of the metal underneath the caps? TIA!

Looks like the PCV system was removed on mine. I assume this is not a problem with the way it is set up?

Any tips on getting oil in here or just plan on it taking a while?

Lack of a pcv is ok if you don't mind a leaky motor.

That explains a lot of the oil I am seeing. Guess you are saying extra pressure caused by a lack of a pcv is blowing seals and gaskets here and there (or has the potential to do that)?

Re: Aftermarket valve cover oil port

That's what happens!
You could put a pcv on the passenger side where the breather cap is and a screw in type breather where the cap on your driver's side is. The breather cap doesn't need a baffle. You could open it up under it and help with oil addition.
I'm assuming the breather is push in and the cap is screw on.

Both are push in and have the metal baffles below the cap.

That makes it easier. Leave the breather where it is and punch out the baffle and put a pcv on the drivers side.

Re: Aftermarket valve cover oil port

If I go back to a pcv I would connect the pcv hose end with the hose with a bolt in it coming of the front of the carb in the center of the above picture?

That should work just fine. Know that you may need to readjust your idle mixture and idle speed to account for the 'vacuum leak' of the PCV system.
