Pics of my dash cluster!
I painted the needles and got a new bezel. Cleaned it up and new light bulbs- Looks brand new!!! Just a little elbow grease is the best medicine for these ol' boys!

If you have it apart again, paint all that funky green with white wall mart spray paint. It'll look 10 times better at night when you turn on the lights.

Just any ole white spray paint you have laying around. I prefer flat white, but I have no proof that it works better.

I used gloss white, the flat white seems to have the same affects. Here's the installed shot with my ugly wheel

I used Testers Flourescent Orange, it's a bit more orangish than the stock color which is an orange with a bit of red in it.

Me too!!
I used florescent orange spray paint and it was also a little brighter orange, but it looks good if you do them all so they match, I just did the top two.
Randy- you like my steering column- You can't really tell in these pictures, but I was pretty excited that the blue in the center cap matches my truck color exactly !!! Last edited by 1970blazin; 08-19-2003 at 11:33 PM. |

In the first pic I posted, what I did was used a coudple of jumper wires, and a ELT battery pack off an airplane (used to work as an aircraft mech, had a few laying around), and hooked up the light circuits to test it with the white and diff color bulbs ot decide what I liked best, and to verify the printed circuit on the replacement cluster was workign properly. I ended up going with red backlighting, but cant get a good picture of it.

I used a brush, I redid that entire cluster for around $15, including buying it for $10.

LOL, I hate to break ny own ettiquette of hijackin threads.... so uh, oh well
I forgot to mention, the reason teh inner black metal piece looks greyish is I used a metallic black on it, I like the way it contrasts with the black painted bezel.
