The Wiper Knob

My wiper knob is broken, in half.

And for a replacement part you think would cost around $.99 max, the magazines deliberately want $13.00 for it. Nope.

Who else has repaired/glued-back-together their wiper knob? Or are there other replacement options?

Re: The Wiper Knob

Lots of options. A small control knob of a bit of discared electronics, surplus store, etc. that set with a set screw. I just put one into mine. Again.

If you have the D-shaft switch, you'll have it a lot easier as mini-D is relatively easy to come by. Most mini-d's don't use a set screw.
If you have the knurled round shaft switch, you can drill out a trimmer pot knob to fit and a set screw holds it in. You can use these on the mini-d also, just put the setscrew onto the flat.

I suggest local sources so you can visually confirm the knobs shaft dimensions, there are many shaft shapes and sizes out there.

Alex.

My local Ace Hardware has an extensive hardware selection, including a bit of control knobs. maybe give them a shot?
